Soft Tissue Fillers
One of the unfortunate effects of aging is facial volume loss. Plump lips and cheeks of childhood and adolescents, slowly lose volume and descend to create jowls, grooves and folds.
Soft tissue fillers come in a variety of different forms and can help restore these deflated areas. The products on the market vary based on the particle size and content and it is critical to understand the differences between the products to understand where they will serve you best.
Dr. Butz has extensive experience with soft tissue fillers and can help advise you how to move forward.
Areas typically treated are the midface or cheek area, tear trough grooves under the eye, marionette lines by the corner of the mouth, hollowed temples, and fine lines.
Most of the products used are slowly resorbed by the body. Their longevity depends the individual product characteristics and on how active the area treated is. So, around the mouth you may get 6 months to a year vs. in the midface and below the eyes you might see 2 to even up to 5 years of effect.
The main risk of the treatment is bruising and swelling. Avoiding aspirin, NSAID’s (Ibuprofen or Advil) and certain herbal medications can decrease your risk of bruising.
Dr. Butz performs all injections himself and offers Juvaderm, Restylane, Belotero, Radiesse and Scupltra product lines.
