Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast tend to sag and deflate over time and especially after breast feeding. A breast lift or mastopexy can restore the breast to the appropriate position. This can be combined with augmentation using implants or your own tissue to increase the size.
Ideal candidates are healthy women who desire improvements in the following:
- Breast Ptosis
- Breast volume loss related to having children
- Breast asymmetry
Preparing for your Procedure
As with any procedure, you should stop any medication or supplements that are not essential for 10-14 days prior to decrease your risk of bleeding complications. Please refer to your list of medications to avoid and always check with your Doctor prior to stopping medications.
There are several different techniques and options available for mastopexy depending on the amount of lift you need. If there is significant volume loss as well you may need a breast implant or secondary fat transfer. Dr. Butz will discuss your goals and preferences and help you decide what the best option is for you.
The procedure is performed in an accredited outpatient surgery center with the assistance of an anesthesiologist. A dressing will be in place when you wake up and this will be removed by Dr. Butz the following day in clinic. You will then be placed in a soft bra. You should avoid underwire bras for at least 4 weeks. You may have some numbness and hypersensitivity of the breast. This is normal and will improve with time. You should avoid rigorous exercise for at least 2 weeks but we encourage you to be up and walking several times throughout the day.
Recovery Time: 5-7 days
